Course objective:
Upon completion of this course, students will gain a complete knowledge of embroidery techniques and the materials to be selected to create a hand embroidery.Hand embroidery, a part of traditional folk art, representative of Zagorian folklore, often adorns home interiors, costumes, church vestments. The embroidery can be white, coloured or gold with various stitches.
Hand embroidery is used to decorate fine fabrics such as crochets, frames, tablecloths, curtains and sheets. The pattern of the embroideries, especially the coloured ones, show influences from various regions of Greece, as well as from the East and the naturalistic element is not missing.
